Alexis Dobbs has been named the AU
Student-Athlete of the Week Presented by GEICO, Department of
Athletics officials announced.
Dobbs became the 16th women’s basketball player in program
history to eclipse the 1,000-point mark in Monday’s 64-61
loss to Mount St. Mary’s. The senior registered a career-high
25 points on 10-of-14 shooting from the floor, going 5-of-8 from
beyond the arc, while adding four rebounds, three assists and one
steal. She then posted her first career double-double to lead the
Eagles to a 64-42 win at Coppin State on Saturday. The Berea, Ohio
native posted 10 points and a career-high 10 assists, notching a
career-best five steals with a season-high seven rebounds. Dobbs
was the first American women’s basketball student-athlete to
dish out double-figure assists since February 2006.
She is averaging a career-best 15.4 ppg this season and is
shooting 50.0 percent from the field, 44.4 percent from beyond the
arc and 92.9 percent from the foul line on the year. Dobbs also
leads the team with 5.9 apg and a 3.0 assist/turnover ratio.
Dobbs and the Eagles are back in action on Saturday, December 28
at 2 p.m. when it heads to local rival George Washington.
