Senior outdoor track student-athlete Mark Leininger has been named the AU
Student-Athlete of the Week Presented by GEICO, Department of
Athletics officials announced Monday.
Leininger broke the program record in the 10,000 meter run on
Saturday at the Colonial Relays in Williamsburg, Va., finishing
second in the event. The Colts Neck, N.J. native bested the
previous record set by Pat MacAdie in 2005 by nearly 15 seconds and
eclipsed the IC4A qualifying standard by over a second and a half.
His time in the event is also the best in the Patriot League this
season.
Leininger and the Eagles will return to action on Saturday,
April 13 and Sunday, April 14 for the Bucknell Bison Outdoor Games
in Lewisburg, Pa.
