American University lacrosse senior attacker Kimberly Collins was recognized as the AU
Student-Athlete of the Week Presented by GEICO, Department of
Athletics officials announced Monday.
After not scoring through the first 59 minutes of
Wednesday’s game against No. 12 Johns Hopkins, Collins found
the back of the net with 57 seconds left in regulation to knot it
up at 8-all and send the game to overtime. The senior then scored
her second of the day to tie it up again with 2:22 to play in the
extra period and set up Jordan Harrington’s game-winning goal.
Collins also tallied three points on one goal and two assists to
help the Eagles remain undefeated in the conference with an 11-6
win over Bucknell on Saturday.
The Princeton Junction, N.J. native owns a 34-game scoring
streak dating back to 2011 and leads American with 36 points this
season, notching 26 goals and 10 assists. Collins is one point shy
of American’s top-five career point leaders and needs three
more goals to become one of American’s top-five scorers. She
ranks sixth all-time at American with 45 career assists.
The Eagles return to Jacobs Field on Tuesday, April 2 at 4 p.m.
to host No. 9 Virginia.
