American University men’s basketball sophomore John Schoof has been honored as the AU
Student-Athlete of the Week Presented by GEICO, as announced by
Athletics Department Officials.
The second-year sharpshooter led American to a Patriot league
win over Navy this past Wednesday, 72-49, netting a career-high 27
points on 9-of-12 shooting from the field. Schoof was locked
in, especially from 3-point range, knocking down a career-best
8-of-10 shots from downtown, one shy of the all-time AU,
single-season record.
The versatile swingman also pulled down four boards and dished
out four assists in the victory. Schoof went on to grab a
career-high seven rebounds at Army while netting double-figure
scoring for the second- straight game and seventh time this season
with 12 points.
For the week, he posted impressive averages of 19.5 points per
game, 5.5 rebounds per game, 3.0 assists per game, a .650 field
goal percentage and .600 3-point field goal percentage. For his
efforts, he was named a Patriot League Men's Basketball Honor
Mention selection.
The Eagles return to Bender Arena on Wednesday, January 30,
against Bucknell at 7:30 p.m. American then plays host to
Lafayette on Saturday, February 2, at 2 p.m. Tickets are still
