American University sophomore diver Melissa Parker has been
honored as the AU Student-Athlete of the Week Presented by GEICO,
announced Athletics Department Officials.
Against George Mason and Army this week, Parker won the
one-meter dive with a score of 232.15. She also placed second
overall with a score of 231.80 in the three meter dive. Despite
these strong performances, the team overall lost to George Mason
and Army. She was however, named an honorable mention selection on
the Patriot League Weekly Honor Roll.
Last week against Georgetown and James Madison, Parker placed
fifth overall with an impressive score of 253.75 in the three
meter dive. Parker has been leading the women’s team all year
with strong scores and places against teams such as Bucknell and
Navy, where she placed third in both the three meter and one
meter dive. The Livermore, Calif., native currently holds a place
in the AU record books with the fourth best one meter dive of
all time in American University Diving history.
The Eagles will return to competition next week for the Bison
Invitational, hosted by Bucknell, on Saturday, February 2.
