American University women’s basketball freshman forward Michelle Holmes has been recognized as
the AU Student-Athlete of the Week Presented by GEICO, Department
of Athletics officials announced Monday.
Holmes registered her first career double-double in
Sunday’s overtime loss to Hampton, setting career marks with
11 points and 11 rebounds. The Toledo, Ohio native also tallied
four points, going 2-for-3 from the floor, with two rebounds and a
career-high three steals in American’s first game of the week
against Fordham.
The freshman leads the Eagles with 4.6 rpg this season and is
averaging 3.7 ppg while shooting 55.8 percent from the floor.
Holmes has also notched four blocks and 12 steals on the year.
Holmes and the Eagles will return to Bender Arena to open
Patriot League play on Saturday, January 12 at 2 p.m. The game will
be broadcast live on Patriot League All*Access.
