American University volleyball junior Morgan Hendrix has been named the AU
Student-Athlete of the Week presented by GEICO, Department of
Athletics officials announced Monday.
Hendrix led the Eagles with .236 kps this weekend and 2.36 bps,
hitting .490 over the three matches. The Austin, Texas native led
American to a 3-0 win on Wednesday with eight kills, zero errors
and an .800 hitting percentage, also adding a team-best nine
blocks.
In Friday’s Patriot League opener against Army, Hendrix
registered 12 total blocks with 11 block assists to tie a program
record dating back to the 1991 season. Her blocks also helped the
team tie the single match record for total blocks in a match with
20. She hit a team-best .381 in the 3-2 loss, recording nine kills
with just one error and also adding five digs.
The junior ended the weekend posting nine kills with one error
and a .444 hitting percentage, while adding a team-high five blocks
to lead the Eagles to a 3-0 sweep of Holy Cross.
Hendrix and the Eagles will return to Patriot League action this
Friday, September 28 when they take on Lafayette at 7 p.m.
