American University junior runner Ali
Tyburski has been named the AU Student-Athlete of the
Week presented by GEICO, Department of Athletics officials
announced Monday.
The Charlton, Mass. native won the 3,000 meter run at the Navy
Lid Lifter on Thursday night, posting the
seventh-fastest time in program history as the
American University women's indoor track recorded six all-time
program marks with five top-10 finishes. The event time of
10:16.81 was a personal best for Tyburski. The junior also
ran the first leg of the 4x800 meter relay team recorded the
fifth-fastest time at American in 9:56.81 to place third.
Tyburski and the Eagles will return to action on Saturday Jan.
12 when the team travels back to Annapolis, Md. for the Navy
Invitational.
