American University wrestling student-athlete David Terao has been named the AU
Student-Athlete of the Week Presented by GEICO, Department of
Athletics officials announced Monday.
Terao, a redshirt freshman from Honolulu, Hawaii, led the
American University wrestling team with his fifth place finish at
the 31st annual Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational over the weekend.
Terao was the lone place-winner for the Eagles at the event,
registering a 5-2 record at the tournament at 125 lbs., including
an upset of 13th-ranked Sean Boyle of Michigan. He leads the team
with five falls this season and has posted an overall record of
12-5, placing second at the Brockport/Oklahoma Invitational and
fourth at the Keystone Classic.
Terao and the Eagles will return to the mat for their first dual
meet of the season on Sunday, December 9 at 7 p.m. when they host
cross-town rival No. 23 Maryland.
