Junior John Pope was named the Patriot
League M-F Athletic Male Runner of the Week, conference officials
announced Tuesday. Pope was also named the AU Student-Athlete of
the Week presented by GEICO.
Pope earned his first collegiate cross country victory on
Saturday, beating out a field of 106 runners at the Harry Lang
Invitational. The Carlisle, Pa. native finished in a time of
20:03.00 to win the event and lead the men’s team to a third
place finish.
This is Pope’s first Patriot League Male Runner of the
Week award.
Pope and American will return to action on Saturday, September
15 at the Navy Invitational in Annapolis, Md.
