Senior midfielder Michelle Montilio of the American
University women’s soccer team has been selected as the first
AU Student-Athlete of the Week presented by GEICO for the 2012-13
season, Department officials announced Monday.
Montilio, a preseason All-Patriot League honoree, registered a
career-high three points on a goal and an assist in Sunday’s
2-2 double overtime draw at St. Joseph’s. She first tied the
match at one in the 35th minute on her score and then assisted on
Jasmine Mohandesi’s 75th minute goal, which gave the Eagles a
2-1 advantage at the time.
The returning All-Patriot League First Team pick has now tallied
six goals and four assists in her career at American.
Montilio and the Eagles will return to action this Wednesday,
August 22 at George Mason. First kick is scheduled for 7 p.m.
