Erin Koch from the American University
track and field team has been named the American University
Student-Athlete of the Week presented by GEICO, Department of
Athletics officials announced Monday. Koch broke her own school
record in the 1,500 meter run at the at the 53rd Annual
Mt. SAC Relays over the weekend.
Koch placed second in the 1,500 with a time of 4:24.04, besting
the previous school record of 4:25.21 set by Keira Carlstrom '06 in 2004. Her time
also eclipsed the ECAC qualifying standard in the event and is her
first school record in outdoor track. Koch is currently the school
record holder in the indoor mile, posting a time of 4:46.19 earlier
this year at the Patriot League Indoor Track and Field
Championships.
