Flores from the American
University wrestling team has been named the American University
Student-Athlete of the Week presented by GEICO, Department of
Athletics officials announced Monday. The junior fell 2-1 in the
heavyweight national title match against Lehigh's Zach Rey on
Saturday night in Philadelphia, Pa.
Flores' appearance in the finals was just the second in program
history following Josh Glenn's 197 lbs. National
Championship in 2007. This was Flores' third appearance at
Nationals and first-ever All-America honor. He finished the season
with a 26-6 record including 10 falls, two tech-falls, and three
major decisions.
