Senior Josh Olsen was named the AU Student-Athlete of
the Week presented by GEICO, Department of Athletics officials
announced Monday. The senior posted the second fastest time in the
program history for the 10,000 meter run at the Patriot League
Outdoor Track and Field Championships over the weekend.
Olsen’s time of 30:24.02 was a personal best and IC4A
qualifying time. His mark bested one set by Matt Seymour ’04
at the 2004 Patriot League Championships by over 17 seconds. The
Thomaston, Conn. native registered three top-10 finishes during the
outdoor season, including winning the 5,000 meter run at the Bison
Outdoor Classic with a personal best and IC4A qualifying time of
14:22.60. The time was also the 10th fastest in program
history.
Olsen owns three top-10 times at American for outdoor track in
the 3,000, 5,000 and 10,000 meter runs. Earlier this year he earned
All-Patriot League First Team honors in cross country and
All-Patriot League Second Team recognition in indoor track.
