Emily Burton was named the AU
Student-Athlete of the Week, presented by GEICO, Department of
Athletics officials announced Monday.
Burton led American with 10 goals in two games, opening the week
with a career-high six goals and an assist against George Mason on
Wednesday. She also registered a career-high six draw controls with
one ground ball and one caused turnover in the game. The junior
then recorded a team-high four goals on Saturday with one assist
and five draw controls in a 22-9 rout of Bucknell to help the
Eagles improve to 2-1 in the Patriot League.
Burton currently leads the Patriot League with 3.2 goals per
game and is fourth in the conference with 3.7 points per game.
The Catonsville, Md. native was also named the Patriot League
Midfield Player of the Week for the second time this season on
Monday.
The Eagles will return to Washington, D.C. on Tuesday, March 27
at 7 p.m. to take on No. 13 Georgetown.
