American University senior midfielder Bernadette Maher has been named the AU
Student-Athlete of the Week presented by GEICO, Department of
Athletics officials announced Monday.
The Richboro, Pa. native was a bright spot in American’s
two losses last week. She scored three goals on five shots in road
games against Holy Cross and Virginia Tech and also notched one
assist, one draw control and one caused turnover.
Despite missing two games due to injury, Maher ranks fifth on
the team with nine points and seven goals. Last season, she led the
team with 38 goals in 16 starts.
Maher and the Eagles will close out a three game road trip when
they play at Massachusetts on Tuesday, March 13 at 3 p.m.
