Senior Charles Hinkle was named the AU
Student-Athlete of the Week presented by GEICO after being named
the Patriot League Anaconda Player of the Week for the fourth time
this season. Hinkle hit five three-pointers, including the
game-winner, to lift the American University men's basketball team
past Colgate on Saturday.
The senior tallied five three-pointers for the fourth time this
season, going 5-of-8 from beyond the arc, to secure the 59-58
victory for American. He also went 9-of-19 from the field and
recorded a game-high 23 points with three rebounds and one
steal.
Hinkle is ranked second in the Patriot League and 17th in the
country with 19.7 ppg and has scored at least 20 points in 13 games
this season. The Los Alamitos, Calif. native also broke into the
single season record books earlier this season for free throws made
with 128, good for ninth all-time at American. He is shooting 41.7
percent from the field, 42.2 percent from beyond the arc and 83.1
percent from the foul line this season.
Hinkle's four Patriot League weekly awards tie him with Lehigh's
C.J. McCollum for the most honors this season.
Hinkle and the Eagles will return to the court on Thursday,
February 9 at 7 p.m. when they take on Lehigh live on CBS Sports
Network.
