Senior Jack Scott of the American
University men’s soccer team has been honored as the AU
Student-Athlete of the Week presented by GEICO, Department of
Athletics officials announced Monday.
Scott scored the game-winner in American’s dramatic 1-0
win over Lehigh on Saturday. His strike came in the 90th minute of
play off a feed from Alassane Kane to break a scoreless tie
and propel the Eagles to the victory. The win kept AU in first
place in the Patriot League standings and officially clinched the
Eagles a berth into the Patriot League Tournament.
The goal was Scott’s third of the season and ninth of his
career. He now has two game-winners with the other coming during
his freshman season in 2008.
Scott and the Eagles will return to action this Saturday,
November 5 at Holy Cross. A win or draw will clinch the Patriot
League regular season title for AU as well as the right to host the
Patriot League Tournament.
