Senior defender Tatum Dyer of the American University
field hockey team has been selected as the AU Student-Athlete of
the Week presented by GEICO, Department of Athletics officials
announced Monday. Dyer played a key role in American’s pair
of wins over the weekend against Lehigh and Temple.
Dyer led the defensive unit that allowed only two goals and
seven total shots in the week. The Windham, N.H., native played all
70 minutes in both games this weekend.
Additionally, Dyer had a productive week offensively, registered
her first-career goal against Temple on a penalty stroke, a key
score that gave AU a 2-1 lead in the 56th minute. She also picked
up an assist on the first score against Lehigh on a penalty corner.
The assist was her third helper of the season and fifth of her
career.
Dyer and the Eagles will return to Patriot League play this
Saturday, October 8 at Holy Cross. The action from Worcester,
Mass., gets underway at 11 a.m.
