WASHINGTON - After placing second overall in the 184-pound weight class at the prestigious Southern Scuffle, redshirt junior Caleb Campos of American University wrestling has been named the Eagle of the Week for the week of Dec. 29-Jan. 4.

Campos opened the tournament with three early wins to advance on day one, including an 11-2 major decision and a 12-8 victory over a Cornell opponent.

On Sunday, Campos knocked off the No. 1 seed in the semifinals, taking down 16th-ranked Aidan Brenot of NDSU by a score of 8-2. With a 4-2 lead in the third period, Campos delivered a perfect shot to complete a takedown and seal the win. In the finals, Campos suffered his only loss, a competitive, 12-9 decision to Penn State. He led a group of five Eagles who earned top-eight finishes, part of the program's best-ever showing at the event.
