BALTIMORE - Eight wins, including three by sophomore
Isabel McGovern, highlighted the day for American University men's and women's swimming and diving as the Eagles took on Loyola Maryland and Colgate in a tri-meet. Both sides earned a win over Colgate and took a loss against host Loyola.
Notable
- Sophomore Isabel McGovern got the Eagles' first win of the day in the 200 free with her time of 1:54.77. She later earned her second and third individual victories in the 200 fly and 100 fly. In the 200 fly she swam a PR of 2:07.56 that improves on her own 11th-place all-time standing at AU, and her 100 fly time of 57.67 is 16th all-time.
- Senior Mimi Watts stayed undefeated in individual events this season with wins in the women's 50 free (23.25) and 100 free (51.45). Her 50 free time set a new pool record at Loyola.
- The Eagles swept the 50 free as senior Nick Buckley followed in 20.64 for a win on the men's side, and he took second in the 100 free in 46.39.
- Senior Caleb Farris got another win for the men in the 100 fly with a time of 50.24.
- The men's 200 medley relay team of Aidan Delehanty, Will Deitch, Farris and Buckley took fourth in 1:33.34 which ranks 10th all-time in program history. The same group also holds the school record in that event, set this past February.
- Junior diver Griffin Batt earned a win on the 3-meter with his score of 244.25, and placed second on the 1-meter with a score of 235.45. Sophomore diver Peyton Thurman took second place on the women's 3-meter with a score of 222.90, and fourth on the 1-meter.
- Freshman Kate Williams took second place in the women's 1000 free in 10:42.76, a new personal best that ranks 13th all-time at American.
- In the women's 100 back, junior Amaya Tomma took third place in 59.21, and on the men's side, freshman Henry Bysshe placed third in 54.11.
- Tomma later earned a second-place finish in the 200 back (2:08.95).
- AU got another runner-up finish in the men's 500 free, with junior Seamus Brown taking second in 4:49.25. Williams took third for the women in that event with her time of 5:15.56.
- Deitch and Will Timme placed fourth and fifth in the men's 100 breaststroke, and Timme later posted a third-place finish in the 200 breaststroke.
- The women's and men's 400 free relay teams placed third and fourth, respectively, to close out the meet for AU.
- The women beat Colgate 163-135 while losing 194-106 to Loyola. On the men's side, the Eagles beat Colgate 198-90 and lost 222-76 to the Greyhounds.

- The Eagles will have a quick turnaround before a quad meet on Saturday, heading to Annapolis to take on host Navy along with Bucknell and Lafayette. The meet is set to start at noon.
