ANNAPOLIS, Md. - Five athletes from American University wrestling competed at the Navy Classic on Saturday, with two earning trips to the consolation semifinals. The Eagles will be back in action as a team on Tuesday, Nov. 21 when they host George Mason in a dual dubbed the "Turkey Tussle" at 7 p.m. in Bender Arena.

Notable

• Junior Shamil Kalmatov (125) and graduate student Will Jarrell (HWT) both won their opening matches of the day and ended up 2-2 after a loss in the consolation semifinals.
• Kalmatov earned a major decision victory over his first opponent from Edinboro, as did Jarrell against his first opponent from The Citadel.
• Jarrell earned a second major-decision victory in his first match in the consolation bracket, taking down Ohio's Jordan Greer by a score of 13-5.
• At 197 pounds, sophomore Carsten Rawls pinned his opponent from Edinboro in the consolation round of 16.
• Freshman Emmanuel Ulrich got a pair of wins in going 2-2 at heavyweight, including an 11-2 major decision against Kent State's Corey Boerio.
