WASHINGTON – After opening up the 2022 season with a three-game road swing, the American University women's soccer program finally returns to Reeves for its home opener as the Eagles are set to host George Washington University on Wednesday, August 31 at 4 p.m.

WHAT TO KNOW ABOUT AMERICAN
- American enters Wednesday's home opener with a 1-1-1 overall record, coming off its first win of the season last Thursday in a 1-0 win over 2021 NCAA Tournament team the University of South Florida.
- Wednesday's contest is the first home game for the Eagles this season. They opened up the season with three-straight games on the road against Elon, High Point and South Florida.
- In the Eagles' win on Thursday over South Florida, junior transfer Izzy Kadzban netted her first collegiate goal while sophomore transfer Olivia Simmons recorded her second assist as an Eagle.
- Simmons is tied for first in the Patriot League in assists with two so far this season, Kadzban is tied for first in the league in game-winning goals, and Kato is fifth in the league in saves (12) and is tied for first in the league in shutouts (1).
- The Eagles are back on the road for three games after this week's midweek contest. They will first travel to William & Mary, close out non-conference action at ODU, and then open up Patriot League play at Holy Cross.
WHAT TO KNOW ABOUT GEORGE WASHINGTON
- The Colonials enter Wednesday's game with a 1-0-2 overall record. Their one win of the season so far has come over William & Mary by a 1-0 final. They have battled to a 1-1 draw with UMBC and a 0-0 draw with Towson.
- Rachel Sorkenn is tied for second in the A-10 in goals scored early into this season. She has found the back of the net twice so far this season. She is tied for fourth in the league so far in points with four.
- GW has allowed just one goal through its first three games, which is the fewest goals allowed in the first three contests since 2018.
- The last time GW had two clean sheets through its first three games was in 2018.
