HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Eagles and Crusaders traded goal-for-goal throughout the first quarter and were tied at 3-3 by the break.
  • American took control early in the second quarter, though, as Walsh posted back-to-back goals to send AU on a 6-1 run through the stanza, broken up only by a goal from Holy Cross' Giardina less than four minutes in.
  • Vinall added two more followed by one each from Frank and Spratt to give AU a 9-4 lead at the half.
  • American's run extended to eight unanswered goals with a 5-0 run to open the second half before Holy Cross was able to get back on the board with a free position goal from Lauren Drillock. Included in that run were two from Goldblum and one each from Frank and Walsh to pick up each of their hat tricks.
  • Walsh and Goldblum added one more each to close the third quarter before Spratt picked the run back up in the fourth quarter with two more of her own. Frank scored the Eagles' final goal with seven minutes remaining in the game and Holy Cross got on the board one final time with just under four minutes left.
