WASHINGTON - Freshman Julia Kato of American University women's soccer has been named the GEICO Student-Athlete of the Week for the week of Aug. 30-Sept. 6. Kato also earned Patriot League Goalkeeper of the Week honors for her efforts in a great result for the Eagles.

AU earned a 2-0, shutout win at George Washington on Sept. 5, with Kato recording the win in goal. She has gone 233 minutes without allowing an opponent goal, and made nine saves against the Colonials. The team has won three straight games, with each of the last two being 2-0 shutouts.

Women's soccer will return to action on Thursday, Sept. 9, facing Old Dominion at home at 4 p.m.
