Women’s Soccer’s Season Ends with Loss to Loyola

WASHINGTON – American University women's soccer had their season ended at the hands of Loyola Maryland on Wednesday afternoon in a 1-0 loss.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Loyola started the game with solid possession deep in their attacking third but struggled to create shots.
  • American had the first shot on goal after a free kick into the box found the head of Cailynn Adelman, who pushed it toward the far post before it was saved by Paige Sim.
  • The Greyhounds didn't have a shot on goal until the final minute of the first half when they scored the only goal of the game.
  • Jess Korman sent a long ball into the far post that found the chest of Sarah Bayer, who was close to being called offsides, before she fired a shot into the top left corner.
  • The Eagles held a 7-4 advantage in shots in the first half but couldn't find the back of the net.
  • Julia Kato picked up her only two saves in the first 10 minutes of the second half to keep AU in the match.
  • In the 57th minute, Ashley Molz struck a ball to the bottom right corner but Sim snagged it to keep AU off the board.
  • The Eagles drew a corner as time was winding down in the second half, but ran out of time before setting up a quality chance.
