BOSTON — Rachel Bloznallis scored the lone goal in the 25th minute to give Boston University its first win of the season over the American University women's soccer team on Saturday afternoon at Nickerson Field. 

Bloznalis scored on a penalty kick after a foul was called on American. 

Early in the contest, BU's Dorrie Varley-Barrett took a shot that clipped the fingertips of Morgan Lang and hit the crossbar. The ball bounced straight down and luckily did not fully cross the line. 

American recorded one shot and one corner throughout the contest. 

AU will host Loyola (Md.) to open its Patriot League home schedule on Wednesday at 4 p.m.
