Women's Soccer Falls to VCU 5-1

WASHINGTON — VCU scored three times in the opening 45 minutes to come away with a 5-1 victory over the American University women's soccer team at Reeves Field on Sunday. 

Yari Bradfield scored for the Eagles in the 48th minute, but the Rams added two more goals to secure the four-goal victory. 

Maddi Santo led the Rams with two goals on the afternoon and Julia Suarez had three points, picking up a pair of assists and a goal. Victoria Burress also had two points for VCU.

The visitors finished with a 14-5 advantage in shots and forced the Eagles to replace Amy Krotine in goal after allowing three goals on five shots. Colleen Vivaldi allowed two in the second half on six shots.

Audrey Sanderson made three saves for the Rams.

American will open Patriot League play next Saturday at Reeves Field against Colgate at 2 p.m.
