WASHINGTON – Scoring a pair of dual victories in his return to the mat, sophomore wrestler Jeric Kasunic has been chosen as the GEICO AU Student-Athlete of the Week.
Kasunic, who missed AU's last three duals due to a concussion, returned to action Saturday in the Eagles' dual versus Bucknell. Kasunic was one of four Eagles to earn a victory against the Bison, scoring a 4-0 decision at 197 pounds.
Meanwhile, Kasunic had an impressive performance at Old Dominion on Sunday, scoring a first-period fall to give American an early 6-3 lead. His bonus-point win helped the Eagles to clinch a 19-18 victory over the Monarchs, snapping a seven-match losing streak.
Kasunic now owns a 15-9 overall record on the season, including a team-leading seven falls.
American closes out its regular-season schedule this weekend with a pair of duals. The Eagles host Ohio on Friday, Feb. 19, at 7 p.m., while visiting George Mason on Sunday, Feb. 21, at 2 p.m.
