WASHINGTON – A 10-point day in a pair of dual-meet wrestling victories last Sunday earned Jeric Kasunic the selection as the GEICO – AU Student-Athlete of the Week for the period ending Sunday, Nov. 13.
Kasunic, a junior 197-pounder from Benton, Pa., began his 2016-17 season with a pair of bonus-point victories for the Eagles in their home openers with Campbell and Clarion.
He scored a 10-0 major decision over Campbell's Willie Bivens to ice a 23-13 victory over the Camels. Campbell came into Bender Arena on Sunday with a 2-1 dual-meet record, including a win over West Virginia.
He pinned Dustin Conti of Clarion in overtime (7:46) to again clinch an AU victory, this time a 27-11 win over the Golden Eagles.
Kasunic is now 44-22 in his career for the Eagles.
American travels to Raleigh, N.C., on Sunday for the Wolfpack Open. The Eagles' next home match is Friday, Jan. 6 when they host the AU Duals, competing against Wyoming, Army West Point and North Carolina.
