WASHINGTON – With an upset over a nationally ranked opponent to begin the season, redshirt junior wrestler Esteban Gomez-Rivera has been selected as the GEICO AU Student-Athlete of the Week.

In the Eagles' season-opening dual at Campbell, Gomez-Rivera scored a 5-1 decision over 17th-ranked Nathan Kraisser at 133 pounds. It was the biggest win of the afternoon for AU, which went on to earn a 27-11 dual victory over the Camels.

American is back in action on Sunday, Nov. 22, when it heads to Raleigh, N.C., for the Wolfpack Open, hosted by NC State.
