The American University women's soccer team hit the road on Saturday afternoon to take on Holy Cross in the squad's second conference game of the season and downed the Crusaders, 1-0, to maintain its perfect Patriot League mark.

The Eagles (4-7-0, 2-0-0) netted the game-winner over Holy Cross (1-6-3, 1-1-0) early in the match, as junior forward Lindsay Muri scored here team-leading fourth goal of the season. Muri now moves up to third in the Patriot League in goals scored this season.

The winning strike was set up by fellow junior Erin Mulhern who found Muri with the touch pass from fifteen yards out on the right side of the box. Mulhern has three points in her last three games, registering the game-winner in AU's victory over Lehigh.

It was all juniors for American on Saturday as defender Kirsten Eriksen centered the back line for the Eagles, while goalkeeper Charlene Belanger made five saves in net for the win and second shutout of the year. Belanger has totaled 41 saves in 662:37 minutes in net for AU, while now posting a 0.95 goals against average and a .854 save percentage.

It was physical Patriot League matchup with American picking up 13 fouls to Holy Cross' seven.

The Eagles were efficient with their shots in the match, putting four of seven on net, and earning the win without a corner kick. The Crusaders had four chances from the angles.

American returns home next week for a mid-week, conference showdown with Navy, Wednesday, October 2, at 3 p.m.
