Box Score Coming off of a golden goal victory over George Mason on Tuesday, American University women's soccer saw a 1-0 decision go the opposite way on Friday night in Fairfield, Conn., at the Fairfield Invitational, falling to the Stags.
Making her second start of the season in goal for American (2-5-0), junior transfer from Syracuse, Sarah Dejak, made 11 saves, a career-best.
Dejak's heroics in goal were not enough however as the Stags notched the golden goal just 2:43 into the game.
Fairfield (2-3-0) forward Ashley Small made an impressive play deep in the American zone to take control of the ball and beat the keeper for the lone goal of the game.
The Stags kept constant offensive pressure throughout the 90 minutes on their home field, totaling 18 shots to American's seven.
Junior forward Lindsay Muri once again led the Eagles offensively, posting a team-high three shots, while three other AU strikers posted a shot on goal.
American will continue action at the Fairfield Invitational on Sunday morning at 11 a.m., when the Eagles face Hartford.
