Two American University wrestlers remain in action after the
second session of the 2013 NCAA Wrestling Championships in Des
Moines, Iowa, including Kevin
Tao who advanced to Friday's quarterfinals.
Tao earned a 9-3 decision over Raymond Borja of Navy in his
second round match to head to remain in the championship bracket.
Borja scored the first takedown before Tao came back to take the
advantage in the second period on his way to the victory

Herrin will also compete tomorrow morning after
registering a 7-3 decision over Cornell's Stryker Lane in the
consolation bracket. David
Terao was eliminated after dropping a 13-0 major
decision to 10th-seeded Josh Martinez of Air Force.
The action gets underway tomorrow, Friday, March 22 at 11 a.m.
EST for Session 3, which will feature the quarterfinal matches as
well as more wrestlebacks.
David Terao – 125
Terao was eliminated on Thursday night after dropping a 13-0
major decision to 10th-seeded Josh Martinez of Air Force. Martinez
jumped out to a 5-0 advantage in the first period as he built up
his riding time advantage. He added consecutive takedowns in the
second period and went on for the 13-0 major decision over Terao.
Terao closes out the year with a record of 28-14.
Kevin Tao - 149
Tao faced Navy's Raymond Borja in a rematch of the EIWA
consolation semifinals. Borja scored the first takedown of the
match but Tao battled back for the 6-3 advantage at the end of the
second period. He added another takedown in the third and with the
riding time advantage was able to secure the 9-3 decision. Tao will
take on Missouri's Drake Houdashelt in the quarterfinals.
Blake Herrin – HWT
Herrin remained alive with a 7-3 decision over Cornell's Stryker
Lane in his wrestleback on Thursday night. Herrin posted the first
takedown of the match in the first period and went up 4-1 in the
second. The redshirt junior continued to add points, getting the
reversal on his way to the 7-3 decision. Herrin faces the Citadel's
Odie Delaney tomorrow morning.
