American University junior Melissa Parker was named the Patriot League Female Diver of the Week, conference officials announced Monday. She was also honored as the AU Student-Athlete of the Week, Presented by GEICO.

Parker placed first on both the one and three-meter boards in a dual meet vs. Howard this past Friday. She posted a score of 221.55 from the low plank before besting her own meet record, totaling 244.80 points on the three-meter board.

"Melissa continues to train with the heart and dedication that earned her second place on one-meter and third-place on three meter boards at last year's Patriot League Championships," said diving coach John Barry. "She has put forth an increasingly impressive performance in the first three meets of this season, including her new dual meet record. Melissa is once again poised to be a true contender for the League Championship in February."

Her new event record at the dual was one of nine meet records set by the Eagles against Howard as AU won 21 total events against the Bison.

American gets three weeks off to train and prepare with a Patriot League meet on the horizon at Bucknell, vs. Lafayette and Navy on November 9, at noon.
