Women's Soccer Earns Patriot League Point with 0-0, Double Overtime Tie at Army

Women's soccer headed north for a tough Patriot League matchup at the United States Military Academy, battling the Black Knights scoreless through 110 minutes for a 0-0 double overtime tie.

The Army (5-6-3, 1-2-2) offense was on point Sunday afternoon, firing off 29 total shots but junior goalkeeper Charlene Belanger was up to the task, making nine saves to earn the shutout.

The Military Academy posted an impressive 17 total corner kicks, but the American (5-8-1, 3-1-1) defense held strong on the set pieces as the Eagles got their first tie of the year.

It was an extremely physical matchup as AU registered 14 fouls while Army accounted for 15 of their own.

American totaled eight shots in the match, two on goal, one by junior Erin Mulhern and one off the foot of Nicole Paviglionite. 

With the conference point, the Eagles remain in fourth place in the Patriot League standings.

American returns to Reeves Field next weekend, hosting Lafayette at 1 p.m., on Saturday, October 19.
