Box Score The American University women's soccer team dropped a 4-0 Patriot League contest to Army on Sunday afternoon, snapping a four-game winning streak by the Eagles.
"Today was obviously not our day," said Head Coach Dave Bucciero. "We were beaten in every phase of the game by Army and sometimes you have days like this. We know we can play a lot better and have proved that in the last five games. We will regroup, fix some things this week and get ready for a great game against Colgate."
The two teams battled back and forth to open the match until Army (7-10-0, 2-4-0) found the back of the net in the 36th minute when Kim An sent a shot in from 12 yards out into the top right corner of the net. Joey Molacek registered the assist on the goal.
An added her second of the day in the 63rd minute off a long pass from Brooke Hepfer, putting it just over Charlene Belanger's head for the 2-0 advantage.
The Black Knights added two more goals to close out the game. Hana Rozzi recorded a tally after Molly McGuigan's shot hit the top crossbar and Katie Pound received a pass from Candace Stewart and slipped it past Belanger for the 4-0 final score.
Carleigh Morba registered two shots on goal for American (6-9-2, 4-2-0) and Jasmine Mohandesi added one as the team was outshot 24-6 in the match. Army also held a 4-3 advantage in shots on goal. Belanger notched six saves for the Eagles.
American closes out the regular season on Saturday, October 27 at 1 p.m. when it hosts Colgate for Senior Day. The match will be broadcast live on Eagles Vision TV.
