HAMILTON, N.Y. - American University fell
behind by two goals to Colgate University, and could not completely
recover, before finally falling to the Raiders by the score of 3-1.
Colgate jumped out to an early 2-0 lead after goals by Kelly Kuss
(28:52) and Kate Barrett (40:57). Simone Konig (Gartringen / School
of Economics in Boblingen) brought the Eagles to within a goal at
55:04 after she converted a penalty kick. However, Colgate closed
out the game when Kuss got her second goal of the game at 80:32,
giving the Raiders a 3-1 lead. Konig finished the game with one
goal and eight shots, including four on goal. Natalie Rodovsky
(Chappaqua, N.Y / Horace Greeley) took three shots (all on goal)
while freshman Meg Runeari (Oswego, N.Y./Oswego) took two shots on
goal. Lauren Wohl (Bel Air, Md./Bel Air/Bucknell) registered three
saves in 90 minutes while Clogate's Luisa Miller notched 12.
Statistically American played Colgate even only in the category of
shots. AU was outshot by just one (19-18), however the Raiders took
six more corners (9-3) and had a 14-5 edge in fouls. . AU will next
play host to Youngstown State on Wednesday, October 8, at 2 p.m.
