Washington - American University women's soccer team fell short to cross-town rival George Washington, despite junior Savannah Rennels (Rector, Pa./Latrobe Area/Bucknell) scoring her tenth goal of the season.
Rennels had five shots on goal (seven total) and scored her goal from 20 yards out. Junior Anabel Jimenez (Kensington, Md.,Bullis) scored the second goal of the game for the Eagles after her shot deflected off of a GW defender. Freshman Simone Konig (Gartringen, Germany/School of Economics in Boblingen) could not find the net, but registered four shots on goal.
Junior Lauren Wohl (Bel Air, Md./Bel Air/Bucknell) notched seven saves and faced 18 shots in the game.
GW was led by junior Kim Warner (North York, Ontario/St. Joseph's), who scored all four goals for the Colonials.
American (3-5-1) will next play at Holy Cross on September 29.
