American and Old Dominion finish even, 1-1

Washington, D.C. -- American women's soccer finished with its second tie on the season today as the team battled Old Dominion through two overtimes. Senior Katie Moore (Silver Spring, Md./Good Counsel) scored the Eagles only goal early in the first half on an assist from sophomore Susan Coelius-Keplinger (St. Paul, Minn./Navy).

The Eagles outshot the Monarchs, 18-16, in a well-matched game that saw a potential goal for each team called back because of hand ball fouls in the box. The Eagles got on the board first at 7:40 as Moore knocked a rebounded shot by Keplinger past Monarch keeper Tonya Dedmond into the net. ODU responded at 15:45 when senior forward Emily Becker sent a pass from senior Jen Henley into the left corner of the goal.

The game remained at 1-1 through two overtimes. American freshman goalkeeper Jen Liese (Rushland, Pa./Council Rock) finished the day with 11 saves, compared to nine by Dedmond for the Monarchs.

The tie today brings the Eagles to 6-4-2 overall, 3-1-0 in the Patriot League. They continue to sit at second place in Patriot League standings. American has a busy weekend, as they will travel to Worcester, Mass. on Sunday to face Holy Cross at 1:00 p.m. in the team's fifth Patriot League game of the season.
