Volleyball Rolls to 3-0 Victory Against NJIT

WASHINGTON - The American University women's volleyball team continued its winning ways at the AU Classic Saturday morning, rolling to a 3-0 victory against the New Jersey Institute of Technology Highlanders. The Eagles used strong play at the net with 13 total team blocks in the 30-22, 30-22 and 30-22 win.

Chelsa Brooks (Hilliard, Ohio/Hilliard Darby) and Christina Nash (Princeton, Fla./Coral Reef) anchored the American front line, which helped hold the Highlanders to a .000 hitting percentage. The pair combined for 14 of the team's 24 block assists. Brooks added 10 kills on .364 hitting and Nash had 28 assists setting the AU attack. Sophomore outside hitter Rubena Sukaj (Tirana, Albania/Asim Vokshi) finished one kill shy of 20 in addition to three service aces. In the back row, libero Ivana Cebakova (Brno, Czech Republic/Ludvika Danka) dug a match-high 17 balls.

The Eagles play once more Saturday, against Manhattan at 7 p.m. in Bender Arena.
