HAMILTON, N.Y. - Cutrina Biddulph (Reseda, Calif./Granada Hills) had 16 kills and Elizabeth Maloney (Toronto, Ontario/Richview C.I.) added 12 as the American University women's volleyball team's attack overwhelmed Colgate in a 3-0 win on the road Friday night. The Eagles move to 16-8 overall and 8-1 in the Patriot League and Colgate dropped to 4-17 and 3-5 in the PL.
American did not take a commanding lead in the first game until past halfway when the team went on a 13-4 run to put the score at 29-19. After a few Colgate points, Biddulph slammed a kill to end it, 30-22.
The second game mirrored the first as both teams were tied at 19 before AU went on an 11-5 to finish it 30-24. The Eagles hit .400 in the game with Rubena Sukaj (Tirana, Albania/Asim Vokshi) crushing seven kills.
After the break, the Eagles played their best game, hitting a match-high .467 and holding Colgate to a match-low -.034 for the 30-16 win.
Christina Nash (Princeton, Fla./Coral Reef) had team-highs in assists and blocks with 31 and three and a half, respectively. Senior libero Jennifer Cosco (Montvale, N.J./Pascack Hills) registered a match-high 16 digs.
The Eagles hit the road to Lewisburg, Pa. to face Bucknell at 7 p.m. Saturday night.
