CENTER VALLEY, Pa. – Senior Erin Swartz led the 12 American University volleyball student-athletes who earned Patriot League Academic Honor Roll status from the league on Friday.

Swartz, a biology major from Pittsburgh, Pa., was one of nine volleyball student-athletes from across the Patriot League to earn a 4.0 grade-point average in the Fall 2017 semester. She was one of eight PL student-athletes to make the Academic Honor Roll four times.

With its 12 honorees, AU tied with Bucknell and Loyola Maryland for the most from any team. Colgate had 11 on the honor roll, with Holy Cross, Lafayette and Navy with 10 each.

To be eligible for the Academic Honor Roll, a student-athlete must earn a 3.20 grade-point average in the fall semester and participate in one of the Patriot League's seven fall championship sports.

American won the Patriot League volleyball championship for the 15th time in the 17 seasons the school has been a member of the league. The Eagles finished 26-8 overall and 15-1 in the league and swept Lehigh and Navy in the PL Tournament to earn the championship.
