WASHINGTON – Aleksandra Kazala led AU with 10 kills, but Iowa's offense got rolling to lift the Hawkeyes to a 25-21, 25-17, 25-15 sweep of the Eagles on Saturday in a match of the American Volleyball Classic.
The Eagles, now 6-6 overall, play later Saturday against Howard in a 7 p.m. match.
The Hawkeyes, now 10-2, will try to earn the tournament championship against Princeton at 5 p.m.
Iowa hit .383 in the match, holding a 52-27 edge in kills. The Hawkeyes made only 11 attack errors in a strong offensive performance. Claire Sheehan had 19 kills to lead Iowa offensively.
