March 29, 2005

WASHINGTON - Junior women's lacrosse midfielder Moriah Linnell (Antrim, N.H./Contoocook Valley) has been selected the Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week, league officials announced Tuesday.

Linnell earned the award, the first of this season and second in her career, for her effort in the Eagles' only game last week. She scored four of American's seven goals in its 7-5 win over Villanova on Saturday, including the game-winner with just under seven minutes remaining. Linnell, a co-captain, also picked up four ground balls in the game.

On the season, Linnell leads American with 26 points (19 goals, seven assists), which puts her fourth in the PL in scoring. Linnell now has 86 career points, and is on pace to become just the sixth AU player to top 100 career points.

Linnell and the rest of the Eagles return to action on Wednesday, March 30, when they travel to Baltimore to face UMBC. Game time is set for 3 p.m.
