CENTER VALLEY, Pa. - American University sophomore Kendall Goldblum was selected for the team's first weekly award of the season on Monday after she was voted the Patriot League Midfielder of the Week by the league office.
This is the first athlete of the week nod for Eagles lacrosse since 2016.
Goldblum has had a breakout sophomore season so far, including a pair of career-highs during the 17-13 win over Holy Cross on Saturday. She led the team with seven goals to just miss tying the program's single-game record held by Eleni Vagelatos since 1996 (8). The Wilmington, N.C., native also added a pair of assists for nine points, a performance that would have earned her the top spot in the single-game record book if not for the 11 points earned by teammate Erica Skowron last season.
Goldblum is second on the team for total points with 47 (38p, 9a), draw controls (48), and caused turnovers (16). She has earned career-highs for the season across the board and is one of seven players to have earned at least one hat trick with seven in her 15 games.
The Eagles will close out their regular season on Friday at Lehigh and will fight for a chance to make their first Patriot League Tournament since 2013.
