WASHINGTON – The American University women's lacrosse team returns home for the first time in nearly three weeks as the Eagles host Boston University at 11 a.m. on Saturday.
AU enters the weekend at 3-8 overall and 0-3 in the Patriot League while the Terriers hold a 4-6 season record, 1-3 in the conference.
Boston leads the four-game series against American, 4-0, after entering the Patriot League in 2013-14. The Terriers came away with a 17-6 victory during the last meeting between the two teams in 2017.
The Eagles are coming off a long break since their last game against Loyola Maryland on Wednesday, March 28. The Greyhounds, ranked ninth in NCAA Division I, came away with a 22-3 victory on their home turf.
Freshman Emma Vinall continues to lead the team's scoring efforts with 23 goals after seven games. Senior Lexi Perez follows with 19 goals and a pair of assists to rank second on the team with 21 points so far this season. Sophomore Erica Skowron ranks first for AU with 20 assists and 31 points so far this season. She sits just four assists below the program record of 24 from Olivia Mangan during the 2016 season.
Sophomore Ana Freda made her first career start in goal last week against Loyola and ranks second on the team with a .381 save percentage and 15.9 goals against average. Junior Fiona Geier continues to lead the team in goal with 90 saves so far this season. She is averaging 13.5 goals against per game and a .431 save percentage.
SCOUTING THE TERRIERS
Boston enters the Saturday morning contest off a 20-16 nonconference win over Harvard on Wednesday. The Terriers' last Patriot League contest was an 18-11 loss to No. 9 Loyola on Saturday, March 31.
Kailey Conry leads BU with 48 points so far this season, contributing a team-high 27 assists and ranking second with 21 goals. Her 2.7 assists per game average leads the Patriot League and ranks fourth in NCAA Division I while her 4.8 points per game has her 18th in the national rankings. Avery Donahoe ranks first for the Terriers with 23 goals after the first 10 games of the season.
Christine Laible leads Boston in-goal with 86 saves, averaging 14.86 goals against per game and a .430 save percentage.
