WASHINGTON - The American University lacrosse team will look to earn its third consecutive win of the season on Wednesday, fourth overall, as the team hosts crosstown rival George Washington at 3 p.m. on Jacobs Field.

The Eagles are 3-4 overall this season after earning back-to-back victories over Old Dominion, 17-12, and Gardner-Webb, 12-10, last week. The Colonials are 4-1 this season after defeating Bucknell, 16-9, on Saturday.

American and George Washington are tied at 2-2 in the series. GW won the first contest between the two teams, 9-8, during the 2006 Spring Fling tournament. Both wins for the Eagles came at home on Jacobs Field, starting with the 12-6 victory in 2009 followed by the latest matchup in 2011 when AU outpaced the Colonials, 17-8.

Sophomore Izabella Jade scored her first-career hat trick on Friday to help lead the Eagles to a 12-10 victory over Gardner-Webb. Freshman Emma Vinall added another three goals while senior Lexi Perez and sophomore Amanda Medjid each added two, and senior Leah Brennan and junior Brooke Stapleton walked away with one each.

Vinall leads the Eagles with 23 goals while sophomore Erica Skowron has a team-high 28 points with 10 goals and 18 assists.

Junior goalkeeper Fiona Geier leads the team with 66 saves so far this season for a .458 save percentage and a 12.46 goals against average.

GW is coming off a dominant victory over Bucknell on Saturday, 16-9. Jocelyn Donohue led the team with five goals, followed by another hat trick from Camaryn Kerns. Goalkeeper Jenna Oler walked away with 14 saves.

Kerns and Donohue lead the team's overall scoring efforts with 14 goals so far this season while Brooke Sands has a team-high 17 points with eight goals and nine assists.
