WASHINGTON - For the 11th consecutive season, the American University lacrosse team has placed itself amongst the top tier of lacrosse programs across the country for academic success, after the Eagles earned yet another nod from the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) as a Zag Sports Division I Academic Honor Squad.
In addition to the team honor, five Eagles earned individual recognition as members of the IWLCA Zag Sports Division I Academic Honor Roll. Senior Kayla Flynn, who closed her AU career with a 3.85 cumulative GPA in Communication, led the group, followed by seniors Sarah Bootman (Business Administration), Shauna Norris (Business) and Daniella Pino (Business), and junior Danielle Dgheim (Psychology).
A total of 312 programs across Division I, II, III, and NAIA were recognized as IWLCA Zag Academic Honor Roll Squads after achieving a team GPA of 3.00 or higher during the 2016-17 academic year. The IWLCA Zag Academic Honor Roll was comprised of 408 student-athletes from 103 institutions who earned a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or greater.
