American Visits Loyola Maryland in PL Action

WASHINGTON – The American University lacrosse team returns to action on Tuesday, March 15, when it visits Patriot League foe Loyola Maryland in a 7 p.m. contest.

The Eagles enter Tuesday's game with a 3-6 overall record and 0-1 mark in the Patriot League. American is coming off a 7-6 non-conference loss against Old Dominion on Saturday.

Junior Madison Hoon totaled three points (1g, 2a) to lead the Eagles against the Lady Monarchs, while senior Jessica Wojciechowski and junior Sarah Bootman each recorded two goals. Additionally, freshman goalkeeper Fiona Geier tallied a career-best 13 saves.

For the season, senior captain Olivia Mangan leads the Eagles in total points with 24 (10g, 14a), while sophomore Jennifer DeSimone has added 23 points, including a team-leading 21 goals.

Loyola Maryland, receiving votes in the latest IWLCA coaches poll, opens its PL slate on Tuesday. The Greyhounds own a 2-4 overall record, with all six of their games coming against nationally ranked opponents.

Loyola is coming off a 7-6 upset over eighth-ranked Virginia. Senior Maddy Blakeman finished with three goals against the Cavaliers, tallying her first hat trick of the season, while senior goalkeeper Molly Wolf recorded seven saves.

Blakeman leads the Greyhounds in total points this season with 13, including a team-best 10 goals, while freshman Hannah Powers has added five goals and six assists.
